Luther L. Taulbee, 87, passed away at 8:12pm on Thursday, April 4, 2013, at his residence with his loving family by his side. He was born on April 13, 1925, in Wood River, Illinois, the son of the late Jesse and Mary (Wood) Taulbee. He married the former Doloros Meiser on July 16, 1946, in Roxana and she survives. Other survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: Dan and Jean Taulbee of Dorsey, Kim and Nancy Taulbee of Mechanicsville, Virginia, two daughters and a son-in-law: Tracy Franks of Rosewood Heights, Trudy and Tom Lehnen of Bethalto, eleven grandchildren, and thirteen great - grandchildren. He was formerly employed for 15 years at Clark Oil and for 21 years at Union Electric. A veteran of the United States Navy, he served for 3 years during World War II. He was an artist, musician, enjoyed playing golf, and was an avid fisherman. He was a 50-year member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Rosewood Heights. He loved spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: William Taulbee, Norman Taulbee, and one sister: Juanita Dike. In celebration of his life, memorial visitation will be from 10:30am until time of memorial services at 11:30am on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Pastor Daryl Fansler will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Woodland Hill Cemetery.
