Margie L. Schieler

Bunker Hill: Margie L. Schieler, 79, passed away and went to be with the Lord at 10:07am on Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at Rosewood Care Center in Alton. She was born on June 24, 1935, in Alton, the daughter of the late Bill and Marie Wilken. She married Melvin Schieler on May 10, 1957, in Alton and he survives. Other survivors include one daughter and a son in law: Michelle and Charlie Wolff of Shipman, one son: Mark Schieler, three grandchildren: Meghan, Rachel, Luke Wolff, two brothers and a sister in law: Dan Wilken of California, Bob and Diane Wilken of Californina. She was formerly employed at Owens – Illinois Glass Works. She then went to work at Schnucks in Alton as a checker for over 15 years prior to her retirement. After her retirement, Margie and Mel started their own business 4-M Greenhouses in Bunker Hill. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Midway where she was involved in various church activities. She also helped with the food pantry in Bunker Hill. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister: Elsie. In accordance with her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. In celebration of her life, memorial visitation will be from 4pm to 8pm on Friday, December 12, 2014, at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Midway. Memorial services will be held at 10am on Saturday, December 13, 2014, at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Midway. Pastor Lori Schafer will officiate. Memorials are suggested to St. John’s United Church of Christ in Midway or the Alzheimer’s Association.
