Marilyn Cisler

Bethalto: Marilyn A. Cisler, 72, passed away at 1:48pm on Thursday, January 25, 2018, at her residence. She was born on June 29, 1945, in Olean, New York, the daughter of the late Morris and Alice (Thurber) Heath. She married Stan Cisler III on August 14, 1971, in Olean, New York, and he survives. Other survivors include two daughters and a son in law: Julie Cisler of Bethalto, Carrie and Steve Ross of Columbia, Illinois, two grandchildren: Sarah and Madilyn, two brothers and sisters in law: Alan and Linda Heath of Gilbert, Arizona, Dr. Paul and Joan Heath of St. Cloud, Minnesota, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. Marilyn was a 1963 graduate of Olean High School in Olean, New York. She furthered her education and graduated from Greenville College with her Bachelor’s Degree in Science Music Ed. in 1967. She earned her Master of Science in Music Ed. Degree in 1968 from the University of Illinois. Marilyn taught for thirty – four years in the Bethalto and Roxana School Districts where she taught music. She was the church organist, choir director, and bell director for thirty – nine years at St. Paul United Methodist Church in East Alton. She attended Emmanuel Free Methodist Church in Alton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister: Jeannie, and a brother: John. Private family entombment was held on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. The family will hold celebration of life services at 11am on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at Emmanuel Free Methodist Church, 3993 Fosterburg Road in Alton with a luncheon to follow. Rev. Mark Scandrett will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Emmanuel Free Methodist Church in Alton or to the ALS Association.
