Alton: Marjorie R. Ross, 84, passed away at 12:05pm on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at Alton Memorial Hospital with her family by her side. She was born on February 23, 1931, in Decatur, Illinois, the daughter of the late Harry K. and Martha M. (Lowry) Arnold. She married Allen M. Weiss on June 5, 1954, in Alton and he preceded her in death. She then married Clifford Ross and he also preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons and daughters in law: David and Helen Weiss of Tipton, Michigan, Mark and Mary Weiss of Bethalto, four grandchildren: Pamela Kelly of Bloomington, Illinois, Christina and K.C. Doucleff of Alton, Kathleen Weiss of Bethalto, Richard Stroder of Denver, Colorado, one great granddaughter: Gwendolyn Kelly, one brother and sister in law: Harry and Linda Arnold of South Roxana, and many other extended family and friends. She was formerly employed at Alton Memorial Hospital as a scheduler in the nursing department for many years prior to her retirement. She was a wonderful seamstress and made clothes for her family and friends. She was a talented musician and could play many instruments. She encouraged her granddaughter and great granddaughter to become involved with music. She enjoyed dancing. She was a member of Community Christian Church in Alton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister: Rev. Joyce Daniels and a granddaughter: Jennifer Weiss. In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 4pm to 7pm on Thursday, February 18, 2016, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Friday, February 19, 2016, at the funeral home. Pastor Dave Barger and Dr. Terry Arnold will officiate. Burial will follow at Brighton Cemetery in Brighton. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to BJC Hospice of Alton and will be accepted at the funeral home.
