Mark Barnes

Cottage Hills: Mark Barnes, 60, passed away at 9:35am on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at Barnes – Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. He was born on May 2, 1956, in Alton, the son of the late Richard and Vivian Evelyn (Vaughn) Barnes. He married the former Deanna Sands on June 15, 1985, in Alton, and she survives. Other survivors include one daughter: Jessica Lynn Barnes of Cottage Hills, one son and daughter in law: Alex and Nicole Barnes of Rosewood Heights, one sister and brother in law: Melinda and Gary Phipps of East Alton, two brothers and sisters in law: Dennis and Janet Barnes of Cottage Hills, Ronald and Debbie Barnes of Bethalto, a brother in law: Brad Sands and Lori Smith of East Alton, and many other extended family and friends. Mark was formerly employed at Millers Mutual in Alton for 30 years as a market analyst prior to his retirement in 2009. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one niece: Jennifer Tipsword. In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. In celebration of his life, memorial visitation will be from 5pm to 8pm on Monday, September 12, 2016, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at the funeral home. Pastor Daryl Fansler will officiate. Memorials are suggested to HidzKidz at Hartford Assembly of God and will be accepted at the funeral home.
