Chesterfield, Illinois: Mark T. McGill, 77, passed away at 9:58am on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at his residence. He was born on January 11, 1940, in Wood River, the son of the late Thomas and Mabel (Wiltshire) McGill. He married Gayle Devening on September 4, 1965, in Fieldon, Illinois, and she survives. Other survivors include a daughter and son in law: Kristi and Robert Nasello of Jerseyville, two sons: Todd McGill of Chesterfield, Illinois, Brian McGill of Granite City, seven grandchildren: Mark Thomas, Bradley Todd, Katie Scarlett, Lauren Taylor, Paige Abigayle, Reese Jason, Peyton Allan Lee, two great grandchildren: Keegan, Kamille, an expectant great grandson, and a sister: Carol French. Mark was formerly employed as an adjuster at Olin. He was a member of the Non Denominational Church in Chesterfield. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1963 to 1965. He loved hunting, fishing, and his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister: Mary Alice Spaulding and a brother: William McGill. In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 4pm to 8pm on Friday, January 20, 2017, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Funeral services will be held at 10am on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at the funeral home. Pastor Dave Carlson will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodland Hill Cemetery in East Alton with full military rites by the Ritual Team of the East Alton American Legion Post #794. Memorials are suggested to the Parkinson’s Foundation or the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
