Marshall L. Williams

Marshall L. Williams, 88, passed away at 11:05pm on Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Rosewood Care Center. He was born on April 27, 1925, in Ripley, Tennessee the son of the late Clyde and Lovey (Smith) Williams. He married the former Alberta Schott in Alton and she survives. Other survivors include four daughters and sons in law: Becky Johnson of Jacksonville, Illinois, Debbie and Tom Burke of Iuka, Mississippi, Lisa Wille of Alton, Shelly and Jeff Waters of Bethalto, three sons and daughters in law: Leonard Williams of Wood River, Leslie and Kay Williams of Wood River, Orville “Boogie” and Linda Williams of Frederick, Illinois, sixteen grandchildren, sixteen great – grandchildren, one brother and sister in law: Clyde and Barbara Williams Jr. of Slidell, Louisiana, and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. He was formerly employed at Amoco in Wood River as a machinist. He was a member of the Torch Club. A clock collector, he enjoyed wood working and feeding the birds. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers: Ray, Cecil, Alvin Lynn, Wilmer, and five sisters: Virginia, Faye, Patricia, Doris, and Daisy. In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 11am until time of funeral services at 1pm on Monday, March 10, 2014, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Pastor Charles West will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Memorials are suggested to the BJC Hospice of Alton or to the Alzheimer’s Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
