East Alton: Mary L. Bartee, 74, passed away at 12:20am on Friday, March 18, 2016, at Eunice Smith Nursing Home in Alton. She was born on July 24, 1941, in Alton, Illinois, the daughter of the late Fred and Mabel (Avery) Blevens. She married John L. Bartee, Jr. on July 18, 1961, in Bethalto and he survives. Other survivors include one daughter: Tina Butery of East Alton, one son: John Bartee III of Pontoon Beach, three grandchildren: Karen Bartee, Joshua Bartee, John Bartee IV, five great grandchildren, one great – great grandchild, one brother: Robert A. Blevens of Wood River. She was formerly employed at the Cottage Hills Grade School in the janitorial department. She then worked for the Equal Opportunity Commission as a driver. She enjoyed drawing, making jewelry, and playing music. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters: Freda, Shirley, and Betty. In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 10am until time of funeral services at 11am on Thursday, March 24, 2016, at Pitchford Funeral Home. Chaplain Randy Butler will officiate. Burial will follow at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana. Memorials are suggested to charity of the donor’s choice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
