Maurica L. Seets

Brighton: Maurica L. Seets, 61, passed away at 5:30pm on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at her residence. She was born on August 30, 1955, in Cairo, Illinois, the daughter of the late Howard Garrett and Betty Stahling. She married Jake Seets, Jr. on July 7, 1972, in Alton, and he survives. Other survivors include her children and their spouses: Angela and Kevin Farmer of Wood River, Jake Seets III of Brighton, Kelli and Don Ray of Godfrey, Jamie and Mike Huber of Brighton, three grandchildren: Jordan Orban, Trever Seets, Mason Groves, and the love for her dog: Bandit and her granddog: Cotton, two sisters and a brother in law: Vickie and Jeff Lohrstorfer of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Martie Jo Koehler of Fruitland, Missouri, three brothers and a sister in law: Bill Godwin of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Mike Garrett of Jerseyville, Martin and Jennifer Stahling, Jr. of Brighton. A homemaker, she loved watching her husband and her son race stock cars at the Godfrey Speedway. She enjoyed camping, playing bingo, planting flowers in her yard, and motorcycle riding. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Brighton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Granny Garrett. In accordance with her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. In celebration of her life, memorial visitation will be from 10:30am until time of memorial services at 11:30am on Saturday, November 12, 2016, at the First Baptist Church in Brighton. Pastor Don Letson will officiate. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Brighton.
