Warsaw, Missouri: Melbourn L. “Mel” Boger, 90, passed away at 2:10pm on Sunday, May 21, 2017, at his residence in Warsaw, Missouri. He was born on October 10, 1926, in Mounds, Illinois, the son of the late Fred and Nellie (Sharp) Boger. He married the former Elmira Jean “Jeanie” Brooks – Wilson on March 21, 1975, in Wood River, and she survives. Other survivors include two sons and daughters in law: Dennis and Barb Boger of East Alton, Tom and Gena Boger of Roxana, a daughter and son in law: Carolyn and Kevin Syfert of Rosewood Heights, his step children: Patricia Wilson of Collinsville, Vicky Egulf and her husband: Frank of Nashville, Tennessee, Monica Cromwell of O’Fallon, Illinois, Robert Wilson of Thompson’s Station, Tennessee, Edward and Linda Wilson of Carlinville, Illinois, thirteen grandchildren: Jennifer Murray, David Boger, Janna Pitchford, Emily Diveley, Zach Schilling, Misty Boyd, Heather Cromwell, Nathan Cromwell, Alexandra Wilson, Dakota Wilson, Chance Wilson, Megan Masters, Devon Masters, thirteen great – grandchildren, a sister and brother in law: Charlene and Bob Sanders of Granite City, a brother: Robert Boger of Maitland, Florida, and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. Mel was formerly employed at Dressel Dairy in Granite City as a milkman. He then was employed for thirty – six years as a pipefitter at Granite City Steel prior to his retirement. Mel was a member of 2nd Baptist Church in Granite City. He was a Quad County 4-H leader for fifteen years and a Madison County 4-H committeeman for ten years. He was a Sergeant Major in the United States Army Air Force serving during World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step – mother: Gertrude Bevell. In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospitals for Children in St. Louis.
