Melodie A. Janes

Due to the inclement weather on Sunday, January 5, 2014, the visitation and funeral services have been moved to Monday for Melodie Janes. Melodie A. Janes, 57, passed away at 9:15am on Thursday, January 2, 2014, at her residence. She was born on February 10, 1956, in Wood River, Illinois the daughter of the late Harvey and Shirley (Smith) Thomas. She married William E. Janes III on April 21, 1979, at Bethel General Baptist Church in Bethalto and he preceded her in death on April 15, 2011. Survivors include two sons and daughters in law: William E. and Michelle Janes of Bethalto, David and Amanda Janes of Rosewood Heights, two grandchildren: Josie and Henry, an expectant grandson: Eli, two sisters and brothers in law: Linda and Very Rev. James Ellison of Tolono, Illinois, Mary and Joe Bensman of Wood River, one brother and sister in law: Mark and Barb Thomas of East Alton, Illinois, her mother in law: Lorene Janes of Bethalto, one brother in law and sister in law: Mark and Kathy Janes of Wood River, several nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. A homemaker, she loved her children and grandchildren. In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 10am until time of services at 1pm on Monday, January 6, 2014, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River.
