Melvin A. Traub, 70, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, in Highland, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born on September 2, 1955, in Alton, the son of Verl Traub of Wood River and the late Delores May (Royer) Traub. He married Marilyn Richfield Podmore on January 1, 2000, in Key Largo, Florida, and she survives. Other survivors include two daughters and sons in law: Jami and Thomas Rose of Hartford, Amanda and Bradley Anderson of Glen Carbon, a step daughter and her husband: Tina and John Bright of Kirkwood, Missouri, two step sons and their wives: Brian and Tracy Podmore of Maryland Heights, Missouri, Kevin and Danielle Podmore of St. Peters, Missouri, his grandchildren: Marrisa, Lindzey and her fiancé: Devon Ralston, his step grandchildren: Korin, Audrey, Tony, Kenzie, Jackson, Jayna, Katlin and her husband: Justin, Logan, Isabelle, Jacob, Owen, Danica, Jason and his wife: Katie, Denise and her husband: Alex, great grandchildren: Lincoln, Charles, Aaliah, Owen, Elise, Liam, Malerie, Crew, Ruthanne, Selena, Nevaeh, two brothers and a sister in law: Larry Traub of Old Ripley, Randy and Angela Traub of Bethalto, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.

Melvin was President of Wood River Glass and was a glazer for over forty years. He was a forty plus year member of the Glazer’s Local 513. He loved orchids, fishing, the Missouri Botanical Garden, and was a member of the St. Louis Orchid Society.

In addition to his mom, he was preceded in death by a step daughter: Valerie Dellenbach.

In celebration of his life visitation will be from 3pm until time of services at 6pm on Thursday, March 5, 2025, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Pastor Ed Granadosin will officiate. Graveside services will be held at 11am on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Brown Cemetery in Old Ripley.

Memorials are suggested to the Missouri Botanical Gardens or to PBS Channel 9 and will be accepted at the funeral home.
