Michael Evans

Michael Evans, 77, passed away at 11:40am on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at LaBella of Alton. He was born on August 5, 1947, in East Prairie, Missouri, the son of the late Jewel and Lola (Cliff) Evans. He married the former Vivian Cole on February 9, 1966, and she preceded him in death on July 4, 2023. Survivors include two daughters and sons in law: Shawna and Jason Meni of Maryville, Heather and Steven Bloomquist of Mt. Olive, a son and daughter in law: Timothy and Melinda Evans of Alton, nine grandchildren Tiffani Dyer, Braden Dyer, Mackenzie Meni, Shawn Meni, Marissa Eversman, Seth Bloomquist, Annie Evans, Maggie Evans, Jack Evans, four great grandchildren: Ryan, Cora, Ava, Roman, four sisters: Brenda (Robert) Pence of South Roxana, Glenda Eaton of Alton, Shelby Jacoby of Hartford, Karen Grigg of Alton, two brothers and sisters in law: Dick and Kathy Evans of Wood River, Ron and Pat Jones of Alton, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.


Michael was employed as a supervisor at Illinois Bell prior to his retirement. He loved playing golf and was a longtime member of the Lions Club. He was a veteran of the United States Navy.


In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a son: Shane Evans.


Memorial visitation will be from 5pm to 7pm on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River.  Inurnment with full military honors will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis at a later date.


Memorials are suggested to Siteman Cancer Center.
