Olive Tate

Olive Tate, 70, passed away at 3:10pm on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at her residence. She was born on December 13, 1952, in Wood River, the daughter of the late Dewey and Juanita (Jones) Main. She married William Mitchell Tate on October 16, 2004, in Grafton and he preceded her in death on September 2, 2016. Survivors include a daughter and son in law: Annette and James Highley of Carlinville, a son and daughter in law: Robert and Melissa Davis of Carlyle, her grandchildren: Olivia, Shelby, Courtney, a step daughter and her husband: Deanne and Michael Jockish of Fenton, Missouri, a step son: William Mitchell Tate, Jr. of Summerfield, Illinois, a step grandson: Tate Jockish of Fenton, Missouri, a sister: Katherine Main of Alton, two brothers: John Main of Florida, Richard Main of Carlinville, her best friend of over forty years: Linda Moore of Alton, and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and special friends.

Olive was employed as a bartender at Wick’s Lounge for many years prior to going to work at the Alton Belle Casino where she was employed for over twenty years. Olive was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, loved to throw darts, bowling, and played on the Wick’s Lounge Softball team. She was a member of the Alton Moose Lodge and Enjoy Church in Alton.

In celebration of her life, memorial visitation will be from 4pm until time of services at 7pm on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Pastor Daren Carstens will officiate. Private family burial will be at Tate’s Chapel Cemetery in Galatia, Illinois.
