Orisa Babcock, 57, passed away July 11, 2024, at 3:52 pm, in Barnes-Jewish Hospital. She was born on December 28, 1966, in Alton, the daughter of the late Othel and Jeanie (Gosnell) Wilkerson. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law: Felecia and Roger Ernst of Edwardsville, three grandchildren: Gabriella, Elliana, and Lincoln Ernst, a step daughter and her husband: Ashley and Ross Williams of Kansas City, Missouri, a step son: Tyler Babcock of Bethalto, a sister and brother-in-law: Debbie and Alan Tungett of Mount Juliet, Tennessee, a niece and her husband: Rachel and Jeff Bennett of Lebanon, Tennessee, a nephew and his wife: Lieutenant Commander Michael and Amanda Tungett now serving in Misawa, Japan, as well as all her nieces and nephews from the beloved Babcock family and many other extended family and friends.


Orisa was formerly employed as a registered nurse at Christian Northeast Hospital. At her time at Christian northeast hospital she was lovingly called Nurse Sunshine. She formerly attended St. Paul United Methodist Church in Rosewood Heights. She was an avid animal lover and loved being a Mimi to her grandchildren.


In celebration of her life, a visitation will be held from 5pm to 7pm on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River.


Memorials are suggested to the 5A’s  and will be accepted at the funeral home.
