Pastor Paul Westbrook

February 12, 1961 — July 13, 2025

Worden:

Pastor Paul G. Westbrook, 64, passed away and went to be with Jesus on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at his residence. He was born on February 12, 1961, in Fort Worth, Texas, the son of Charley and Darlene (Guersky) Westbrook, Sr. of Maryville. He married the former Melody Moeller on June 28, 1986, in Fenton, Missouri, and she survives. Other survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law: Caleb (Elena Westbook – Montoya) Westbrook of Independence, Missouri, Luke (Lauren) Westbrook of St. Louis, Joshua (Sarah) Westbrook of Raeford, North Carolina, two grandchildren: Ximena and Leonel, a sister and brother-in-law: Melisa (Greg) Baumann of Edwardsville, a brother and sister-in-law: Charley (Susan) Westbrook, Jr. of Edmond, Oklahoma, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.

Paul was formerly employed as a Pastor at Shields Boulevard Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, for four years. He and his wife Melody founded Metro Community Church in Edwardsville, where he was Senior Pastor for thirty-one years. Following his retirement from Metro, Paul became the Associate Executive Director for the Illinois State Baptist Association. He was a member of Net Community Church in Staunton. He loved mountain biking, playing volleyball, basketball, and was a member of the OMG Pickleball Club in Edwardsville. As many in his community know, pickleball became an intense, competitive passion for Paul over the past few years. More important than anything else, though, he loved Jesus, and he wanted everyone to know and love Jesus Christ like he did.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 4pm to 8pm on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at Metro Community Church in Edwardsville. Funeral services will be held at 10am on Monday, July 21, 2025, at the church. Pastor Derrick Taylor will officiate. Private inurnment will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
