Patricia M. "Trish the Dish" Gibbons

Patricia M. “Trish the Dish” Gibbons, 82, passed away peacefully at 12:34 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at her residence. 

She was born on December 31, 1943, in Alton, Illinois, the daughter of the late James Herbert and Maurietta Louise (Collins) Gibbons. 

She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mike Walter of Hardin and Shawn (Melissa) McKaig of Jerseyville; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary (Steven) Kapcoe of Harker Heights, Texas; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Dave Eckhouse of Godfrey; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. 

Patricia was formerly employed as a CNA at Absolute Health Care and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. 

Patricia loved music and dancing, especially dancing the jitterbug. Those who knew her well also knew that a Pepsi and a cigarette were never far away. These simple things were unmistakably Patricia and are among the many little memories that will bring smiles to those who loved her.

In one of life’s most precious full-circle moments, Patricia was able to meet her great-granddaughter, Lainey, shortly before her passing. Just hours after meeting the newest generation of her family, Patricia peacefully left this life—a moment her family will forever hold close. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Shelly Connor; two great-grandsons, Lucas Middleton and Caleb Middleton; and two brothers, James Gibbons Jr. and William David Gibbons. 

Patricia leaves behind a family who will carry her memory forward through the stories they tell, the laughter they share, and the love passed from one generation to the next. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

A celebration of life will be at a later date.
