Paul W. "Mike" Schwendeman

Paul W. “Mike” Schwendeman, 81, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Christian Northeast Hospital. He was born on September 21, 1942, in St. Louis, the son of the late Paul and Lucille (Leslie) Schwendeman. He married the former Nancy Post July 12, 2007, in Edwardsville, and she preceded him in death on November 16, 2017. Survivors include his children: Michael Schwendeman of Wright City, Missouri, Stephen Schwendeman of Wright City, Missouri, Andrew Schwendeman of Edwardsville, Jennifer Boulton of Wright City, Missouri, Kristine and Adonis Clark of Wexford, Pennsylvania, Marcile and Frank Feaster of Millersburg, Illinois, Nanette Shaw of Florida, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.


Mike retired after forty years from Transworld Airlines and American Airlines. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1960 to 1963 and was active in the Alton Leathernecks Marine Corps League and Toys for Tots. He was received his forty year pin for Alcoholics Anonymous.


In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister: Gwen Daniel.


In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 4pm to 7pm on Monday, November 27, 2023, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Following visitation and in accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Inurnment with full military rites will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.


In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Toys for Tots and will be accepted at the funeral home.
