Ree Baggett, 81, passed away at 8:55pm on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at her son’s house in Brighton. She was born on January 8, 1943, in Roxana, the daughter of the late Frances and Edna (Wilson) Waltrip. She married Ronald E. Baggett on July 20, 1963, in Roxana, and he survives. Other survivors include two sons and daughters in law: Barry J. and Stacey Baggett of Wood River, Darren T. and Mary Baggett of Brighton, five grandchildren: Ashlynn (Kevin) Messick, Austin Baggett, Dalton Baggett, Jessica (Casey) Stutz, Jen (Corey) Grover, seven great grandkids: Reece, Quinn, Cayden, Myla, Camden, Chase, JJ, a brother and sister in law: Terry and Gay Waltrip of Texas, and many other extended family and friends.


Ree was employed as a Financial Advisor for Bank of America for many years prior to her retirement. She was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Roxana and was a current member of New Hope Baptist Church in Rosewood Heights. Ree loved camping, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved boating and sitting around the campfire with family and friends.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step dad: Gene Smith.


In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 9am until time of funeral services at 10:30am on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Pastor Dan Smith will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.


Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church in Roxana and will be accepted at the funeral home.
