Rena Pearl Reed

June 4, 1930 — July 16, 2024

Alton:

Rena Pearl Reed, 94, passed away peacefully at her residence on July 16, 2024. She was born on June 4, 1930, in Keenes, Illinois, the daughter of the late William and Otie (Farmer) Wood. She married Lloyd Reed on July 1, 1988, in Edwardsville, and he survives. Other survivors include two daughters and sons in law: Sheryl (Bruce) Boyer of Godfrey, Mona (Jeff) Norton of Bunker Hill, two sons and daughters in law: Lyndon (Rita) Campbell of Collinsville, Jeffrey (Debbie) Campbell of Huber Heights, Ohio, her grandchildren: Nicole Arnold, Bradley (Cheryl) Boyer, Alyssa (Griffin) Horne, Mara (Nathan) Cook, Amber (Nathan) Smay, Casey (Jeff) Evans, nine great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, two brothers and sisters in law: Melvin (Carol) Wood of Sandoval, Illinois, Charles (Jerry) Wood formerly of Paxton, Illinois, nephews and nieces. Also survived by brother-in-law: Kevin (Rosemarie) Reed of Godfrey, and other extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Carmen Wood and Jewell Hill, and one brother: William “Red” Wood.

Rena was formerly employed at Peabody Coal, the Public School Retirement System of the City of St. Louis, and retired as a coordinator at the Scottish Rite Valley of St. Louis at the age of seventy-five. She enjoyed playing slot machines with her friends and looked forward to a mean game of pinochle. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. Her love for babies was endless. She had an infectious smile that would light up any room and was always eager to dress to the nines.

Rena’s lifetime goal was to reach one hundred years of age, but in her loved ones’ hearts her memory will live forever.

In celebration of her life, Rena’s visitation will be Sunday, July 21st from 4-7pm followed by a memorial service starting at 7 pm at Pitchford Funeral Home. Chaplain Jason Pierce will officiate. A graveside service will be held July 22nd at 1130am, at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City, Illinois.

Memorials are suggested to BJC Hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
