Richard L. Diuguid

Dorsey: Richard L. “Dick” Diuguid, 78, passed away at 2:54pm on Monday, February 16, 2015, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville with his loving family by his side. He was born on January 8, 1937, in Cottage Hills the son of the late Frank and Eva (Endicott) Diuguid. He married the former Dolly Pavish on April 21, 1957, in Cottage Hills and she survives. Other survivors include three daughters and two sons in law: Deborah and Robin Baker of Dorsey, Deanna and Bob Kohlburn of Valparaiso, Indiana, Donna Diuguid of Alton, one son and daughter in law: Michael and Anita (Heath) Diuguid of Granite City, eleven grandchildren: Jessica Schoenemann and her husband: Shane, Josh Baker, Justin Baker, Julie Baker, Joe Kohlburn and his fiance’: Tracy Gomillion, Katherine Kohlburn, Greg Kohlburn, Joel Diuguid, Eric Heath and his wife: Bethany, Kellie Heath, Tyler Heath, one great granddaughter: Alexys Heath, five sisters and a brother in law: Daisy Lewis of Alton, Cappy Grosheinheider of Webster Groves, Missouri, Francine Lewis of Cottage Hills, Imogene Brown of Cottage Hills, Claudette and Marvin Eatman of Brighton, three brothers and sisters in law: Willis and Paula Diuguid of Cottage Hills, Dave and Betty Diuguid of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, Phil and Kim Diuguid of Carrolton, Illinois, three brothers in law and one sister in law: Paul and Rosa Pavish of Godfrey, Bill Taul, Sr. of Alton, David Young of Jackson, Missouri, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and other extended family and friends. He was formerly employed at Helmkamp Construction as a Superintendent for over 30 years prior to his retirement. He was a 60 year member of the Cement Masons Union and a 30 year member of the Carpenter’s Local Union 664. Dick was known for his contagious smile and his kind heart. He was deeply loved by his family and many friends. He truly loved life and enjoyed trading stories with friends and family. Dick was generous with his time and talents and really enjoyed helping others. In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. In celebration of his life, memorial visitation will be from 1:30pm until time of memorial services at 4:30pm on Saturday, February 21, 2015, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life Riverbend. Nothing would honor Dick more than to pass on a kindness in his memory. Whether it be sharing a smile, giving a waitress a nice tip, paying a compliment, or sharing your skills with others.
