Richard Harris

East Alton: Richard Harris, 51, passed away at 6:03pm on Thursday, January 21, 2021, at his residence. He was born on October 23, 1969, in Wood River, the son of the late Richard and Carolyn R. (Smith) Harris. He married the former Cathy Shipley on April 27, 2019, in Alton, and she survives. Other survivors include two daughter and a son in law: Hayley and Corry Wilton of Roxana, Carolyn Harris of Chatham, Illinois, four sons and two daughters in law: Cody Harris of Virden, Illinois, Dustyn and Claudia Rose Harris of East Alton, Toby and Sara Sewell of East Alton, Andrew “AJ” Sewell of East Alton, nine grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. Richard was employed locally and enjoyed motorcycle riding. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister: Wende D. Winchester. In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. In celebration of his life, memorial services will be held at 3pm on Saturday, January 30, 2021, at the Meadowbrook First Southern Baptist Church. Pastor Kevin Auten will officiate.
