Glen Carbon: Robert Lewis “Papaw” Duncan, 84, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018, at Christian Northeast Hospital. He was born on May 27, 1933, in Pulaski County, Kentucky, the son of the late Alvis E. and Nora E. (Hess) Duncan. He married the former Lora M. Sloan on November 10, 1955, in Walland, Tennessee, and she survives. Other survivors include a daughter and son in law: Sheila and Mark Carmody of Glen Carbon, two granddaughters and their husbands: Kim and Larry Lacefield of Granite City, Bev and Daniel Renfro of Troy, ten great grandchildren: Lauren, Logan, James, Reese, Eli, Haley, Addy, McKenna, Pasleigh, Emma, two brothers and sisters in law: Oral and Diane Duncan of Middletown, Ohio, Arnold and Lola Duncan of Somerset, Kentucky, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. Bob was employed for thirty years for the Army Reserves in Kingsmill, Ohio, as an administrative supply technician. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and rooting for the Kentucky Wildcats. He was a member of Eastside Community Church in Glen Carbon. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter: Tara Carmody, one brother: Cecil Duncan, and one sister: Wilma Jones. In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 4pm to 7pm on Sunday, January 7, 2018, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Funeral services will be held at 10am on Monday, January 8, 2018, at the funeral home. Pastor Daniel Renfro will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon. Memorials are suggested to Franklin Graham’s Samaritan’s Purse and will be accepted at the funeral home.
