Robert C. Hardy

Robert C. Hardy, 77, passed away at 12:15am on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Alton Nursing and Rehab. He was born on December 16, 1946, in Borger, Texas, the son of the late Dean and Bobbye (Martin) Hardy. He married the former Lindsey L. Skaggs on October 7, 1966, in Granite City, and she preceded him in death on April 28, 2011. Survivors include a daughter and son in law: Lori and Josh Pochek of Worden, two sons and daughters in law: Robert “Bob” and Bev Hardy of Moro, Jon and Joan Hardy of Dorsey, seven grandchildren: Hunter, Sydney, Hanna, Allyson (Grant), Cade, Carson, Lauren, his siblings: Carole, Judy (Lynn), Terri (Jim), Ruth, his brother in law: Tom Wylde, a brother in law and sister in law: Vickey (Richard), a sister in law: Terrey Haggett, his longtime companion: Becky Chester of Rosewood Heights, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.

Bob was employed as a supervisor in the lab at Shell Oil for thirty plus years prior to his retirement. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served during Vietnam. He was the Club Manager at the Wood River VFW Post 2859 for several years where he was a pillar and fostered many life long friendships.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a grandson: Aiden Hardy, a sister: Donna, and a brother: Jon.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A celebration of Bob’s life will start at 1pm on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at the Wood River VFW Post 2859. Private inurnment will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
