Roger Thornton, 69, passed away at 10:12pm on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Alton Memorial Hospital. He was born on December 7, 1956, in Granite City, the son of the late Ivan “Earl” Thornton and Barbara J. Myers, nee Sparrowk. Survivors include his daughter Erika Kleine and her husband: Joe of Faucett, Missouri, their children: Sydney Kleine and Josephine Kleine, his daughter: Lacey Dodd and her husband: Eric of Bethalto, their children: Mackenzie Dodd and Gabriel Dodd, his life partner: Susie Thomas, Cottage Hills, her daughter and son in law: Jennifer (Sever) Leone of Alton, their children: Justyce Wisnasky, Triston Leone, their grandchildren: Journey Wisnasky, Zaxtyn Wisnasky, Susie’s son and daughter in law: Josh (Jennifer) Thomas, Cottage Hills, their children: Keagan Thomas, Kylie Thomas, a brother: Terry Thornton of Bethalto, a sister and brother in law: Melody (Michael) Sinks of Cottage Hills, and many other extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepparents and a sister-in-law Donna Thornton.

Cremation rites will be accorded.
