Ruby V. Lingle, 98, passed away and went to be with Jesus at 9:45pm on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at Jerseyville Manor. She was born on October 3, 1925, in Mounds, Illinois, the daughter of the late Elbert and Marguerite (Hight) Stoner. She married Harley Willis Lingle on November 11, 1944, in Mounds, and he preceded her in death in May of 1996. Survivors include a daughter: Janice Hanner of East Alton, a son and daughter in law: Keith and Sue Lingle of Bethalto, four grandchildren: Jamie (Chris) Eaton of Frederick, Maryland, Jill (Jason) Hagen of Brighton, Kelly (Craig) Wooten of Bethalto, Katie (Brad) Pearson of Bethalto, eight great grandchildren: Josie (Sam) Ballard, Brooke (Zach) Weisner, Zac Wooten, Garrett Wooten, Cooper Hagen, Brandon Eaton, Sadie Pearson, Owen Pearson, two great great grandchildren: Alice Weisner, Blayne Ballard, and many other family and friends.
Ruby was employed at Bindlers for twenty plus years as a sales clerk prior to owning and operating Hanner Lingle Family Store in Upper Alton. She was a member of the Vaughn Hill Church of Christ where she taught Thursday School and Sunday School. She was a member of the Jolly 60’s. She loved spending time with her family.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 10am until time of services at 11am on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Brian Magnuson will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials are suggested to the Vaughn Hill Church of Christ and will be accepted at the funeral home.
