Ryan A. Bates

Godfrey: Ryan A. Bates, 30, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at Barnes – Jewish Hospital as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was born on February 26, 1989, in Alton, the son of Steven and Carrie (Fleming) Bates. Survivors include his father: Steven Bates of St. Peters, Missouri, his mother and step – father: Carrie and Brian Hansen of Jerseyville, a daughter: Lillian “Lillie” Bates of Alton, two sons: Landen Bates of Alton, Ryley Bates of Jerseyville, a sister and brother in law: Julia and Cory Simmons of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, a brother: Matthew Hansen of Jerseyville, a step – brother: Kirklyn Hansen of Jerseyville, his grandparents: Gloria and Dale Winchester of Godfrey, Robert Fleming of Godfrey, Donna and Don Shadron of Florida, Terry Bates of Missouri, Rick and Paula Hansen of Jerseyville, Dennis and Pamela Walls of Godfrey, a niece, a nephew, many cousins and other extended family and friends. Ryan was employed at Atlantis Pools as an installer. He enjoyed working on anything mechanical, especially motors and hiking. In celebration of his life, memorial visitation will be from 5pm to 8pm on Monday, August 12, 2019, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Private inurnment will be at a later date at Upper Alton Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family with checks payable to Carrie Hansen and will be accepted at the funeral home.
