Shirley J. Harrison

East Alton: Shirley J. Harrison, 84, passed away at 4:09am on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at her residence. She was born on August 28, 1937, in Malden, Missouri, the daughter of the late Charles and Melba (Darnell) Duba. She married William Harrison on June 14, 1958, in Alton, and he preceded her in death on March 2, 2011. Survivors include a daughter and son in law: Lisa and Michael Raymond of Wood River, a son and daughter in law: Bill and Kara Harrison of East Alton, six grandchildren: Cassi Stanton, Kayla (Isaac Morckel) Harrison, Andrew Raymond, Tyler Neiworth, Kelsey Harrison, Josh (Alex) Harrison, five great grandchildren, an expectant great grandchild, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. Shirley was employed for over thirty years as a registered nurse where she worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital, St. Anthony’s Hospital, and retiring from the Home Health Department at St. Anthony’s Hospital. She enjoyed playing bingo, reading, spending time with her family, and camping. Shirley was active at St. Matthews’ Catholic Church in Alton prior to its closing. She is a member of Holy Angels Parish in Wood River. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers: James Duba, Phillip Duba, and Charles “Ronnie” Duba. In accordance with her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. In celebration of her life, memorial visitation will be from 10:30am until time of memorial mass at 11am on Monday, March 21, 2022, at Holy Angels Parish. Father Don Wolford will be the celebrant. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association and will be accepted at the services.
