Shirley M. Lane

Jerseyville: Shirley M. Lane, 73, formerly of Hamburg, passed away at 11am on Sunday, June 14, 2015, at her residence. She was born on June 10, 1942, in Griggsville, Illinois, the daughter of the late Leo K. and Margaret (Bradshaw) Lacey. She married Phillip Bass and he preceded her in death. She then married Charlie Lane and they later divorced. They have been together for 52 1/2 years and he survives in Jerseyville. Other survivors include four daughters and a son in law: Vicki Heineman of Scottsdale, Arizona, Phyllis Ruby of Mesa, Arizona, Sheryl and James Stone of Jerseyville, Cecilia Lynn Huck of Alton, seven grandchildren, eighteen great – grandchildren, three sisters and a brother in law: Loretta and Richard Schneider, Connie Lane, Mary Sadler, and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. She was formerly employed at Eunice Smith Nursing Home in Alton as a nurse’s aide for 23 years prior to her retirement. She attended the First Baptist Church in Jerseyville. She loved gardening and planting flowers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Kenneth Lacey and Richard Lacey. In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 4pm to 8pm on Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Graveside services will be held at 11am on Thursday, June 18, 2015, at Indian Creek Cemetery in Hamburg, Illinois. Pastor Brent Meyer will officiate. Memorials are suggested to the family and will be accepted at the funeral home.
