Steven L. Starkey

East Alton: Steven L. Starkey, 51, passed away at 3:52am on Friday, December 15, 2017, at his residence. He was born on February 15, 1966, in Alton, the son of Colleen (Dotson) Starkey of Roxana and the late Dennis Starkey. He married the former Stacey Cox on February 14, 2001, in Carlinville, and she survives. Other survivors include one daughter: Jessica Starkey of Canon City, Colorado, two sons: Steven Starkey of Marble Hill, Missouri, Joey Cox of Gillespie, one grandson: Zachary Cox of Gillespie, one sister: Pam Marasti of Hartford, two nieces: Brandi Marasti, Danielle Lafata, one nephew: Dre Ward, great nieces, great nephews, his brothers in law, sisters in law, his aunts, uncles, and many other extended family and friends. He was an ironworker by trade, which he loved dearly. Despite his many struggles in life, Steve loved people, had a kind heart, could make people laugh, loved animals, and most importantly he loved his family. He will be missed dearly by all who loved him. Steve loved playing the drums. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother in law: Vic Marasti. In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. In celebration of his life, memorial visitation will be from 4pm until time of memorial services at 7pm on Monday, December 18, 2017, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Tom Geisen will officiate. Memorials are suggested to the family and will be accepted at the funeral home.
