Terry Dean Barron

May 6, 1947 — September 13, 2024

Granite City:

Terry Dean Barron, 77, passed from his earthly life into everlasting life and went to be with the Lord at 3:56 am on Friday, September 13, 2024, at Christian Northeast Hospital. He was born on May 6, 1947, in Mitchell, Missouri, the son of the late Harold and Velma (Brewer - Penberthy) Barron. He is survived by his wife of nearly 55 years, the former Marcia Barnett whom he married on September 27, 1969, at the 1st Church of the Nazarene in Granite City, Illinois. Other surviving family members include a son and daughter-in-law: Brett and Renee’ Barron of Granite City, a daughter and son-in-law: Laurie and William Schneck of Greenville, Illinois, five grandchildren: Matilynn Barron, Caeden Barron, Laraeli Barron, William (Will) Schneck, Maelynn Schneck, a sister and brother-in-law: Marie Ellen and David Martin of Belleville, Illinois, a brother: Glen Penberthy, a sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Leslie and Richard Price of Granite City, many nieces, nephews, and other beloved extended family and friends.

When Terry (alias Paw-T, aka TT) wasn’t cooking for family gatherings or attending grandkids ball games, he enjoyed game nights with family and friends. You could always count on him to have a quick-witted joke or remark that would light up the room.

He and his wife Marcia are members of First Baptist Church of Maryville, where they spent their time on Sunday with their Bible Study group. Terry loved serving at Awana with the children on Wednesday nights, and always made it a priority to host weekly meetings for family prayer in the “God Room” at his home.

He never forgot to remind those around him, “God’s got this, we just need to stay out of His way.” He came to know that statement in the most beautifully complete way, as he finally saw Jesus face to face and received his complete healing on Friday.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Gary Barron & Lester Penberthy, his father in law: Durrell Barnett, and his mother in law: Mary Sue Barnett.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 9:30am until time of funeral services at 12pm on Friday, September 20, 2024, at the 1st Baptist Church in Maryville. Pastor Tom Hufty will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the 1st Baptist Church in Maryville, the All-In campaign for Metro Community Church Vandalia, or the Bond County Core Communities and will be accepted at the services.
