Victoria Lynn Piel, 71, passed away at 3:05pm on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, in the emergency room at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois. She was born on January 31, 1953, in Granite City, the daughter of the late Francis and Mary Dell (Harlow) Kebelka. She married John Piel on December 1, 1989, in Edwardsville, and he survives. Other survivors include a sister: Pauline Stark of Collinsville, and many other extended family and friends.


Victoria was employed at the EEO Investigator for the Federal Treasury Department prior to her retirement. She attended Country Bible Church in Woodburn. She was the former secretary/treasurer for the St. Clair Bee Keepers Association. She was affiliated with the North America Trail Ride Conference and was a High Point Mules Champion two years in a row.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son: Nikolas Lee Ely, and a sister: Francine.


In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 5pm to 9pm on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Friday, August 30, 2024, at the funeral home. Pastor Patrick Thatcher will officiate. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery in Edwardsville.


Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
