East Alton: Virginia “Ginger” Rook, 85, passed away at 7:45pm on Tuesday, June 7, 2017, at her home with her family by her side. She was born on March 4, 1931, in Hartford, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Leah (Irwin) Forsting. She married David Rook on June 14, 1951, in Hartford, and he survives. Other survivors include three children: Michele Weaver of East Alton, Joe Rook and his wife: Lisa of Holiday Shores, Melissa and Bob Perica of Edwardsville, her grandchildren: Joe and Val Weaver of Edwardsville, Luke and Kourtney Weaver of Troy, Leigh Perica, Tess Perica, Bryan Smith, Adam Smith, eleven grandchildren: Carsyn, Jackson, Yale, Evi, Greyer, Loch, Rowdy, Peyton, Colton, Kayla, Drake, one sister and brother in law: Ruth and Dewey McCune of Tucson, Arizona. Ginger enjoyed working outdoors, fishing, and garage sales. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son in law: Lon Weaver and two sisters: Eloise and Laurine. In accordance with her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. The family will have a private dinner to celebrate her life.
