Vivian L. Meadows

Vivian Louise Meadows, 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 1:20pm on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at Rosewood Care Center in Alton. She was born on May 11, 1924, in Luxora, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Harry and Rozzie (Leasure) McRae. She married the love of her life Cecil K. Meadows Sr. on June 3, 1942, and he preceded her in death on March 10, 2013. Survivors include one son and daughter in law: Cecil K. and Cheryl Meadows Jr. of St. Louis, a granddaughter: Leslie, a great grandson: Ryan all of St. Louis, a granddaughter and her husband: Carie and Bill Forbes of Alton, one daughter and son in law: Brenda and Dan Sanders of East Alton, a grandson and his wife: Jeffrey and Susan Sanders of East Alton, great grandchildren: Timothy, Alyssa, Jordan, a grandson: Bradley Sanders of Bethalto, great grandchildren: KayLeigh, Jake, several nieces, nephews, and her close friends John and Joanne Crafton. She retired from Alton Mental Health Center. She was a member of the former Northside Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed playing the piano at different churches for many years. She and her husband enjoyed wintering in Florida for over 10 years. She will be sadly missed by all. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Stanley, Otis, Jimmie, four sisters: Katie, AnnaBelle, Myrtle, and Jackie. In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 3pm to 7pm on Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Friday, July 26, 2013 at the funeral home. Rev. Erik Scottberg will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Memorials are suggested to the Cornerstone Church in Bethalto.
