Wood River:
William D. Linton, 86, passed away at 3:39am on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Christian Northeast Hospital. He was born on March 5, 1938, in Marion, Illinois, the son of the late Dwayne and Margaret R. (Richmond) Linton. He married the former Patricia King on August 1, 1959, in Herrin, Illinois, and she preceded him in death on December 8, 2016. Survivors include two daughters and sons in law: Kelly and Keith Seifert of Edwardsville, Kimberly and Matthew Benedict of Jerseyville, six grandchildren and their spouses: Alicia and Rick Baker, Zach and Sylvie Seifert, Olive and Emry Stryker, Cole and Abby Seifert, Ryan and Addison Benedict, Doug and Haley Benedict, seven great grandchildren, a brother and sister in law: Rick and Barb Linton of Benton, Illinois, his companion: Kathleen Myers of Wood River, and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
William was employed as a machinist at Lenhardt Tool and Die in Alton for many years prior to his retirement. He attended SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Alton. He loved Harley Davidson motorcycles, golfing, going to the beach, and was very musically talented.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother: Doug Linton.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 10am until time of funeral services at 12pm on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Father Jeff Holtman O.F.S. will officiate. Burial will follow at Worden Cemetery in Worden, Illinois.
